The Texas Department of Transportation will be making traffic changes on several I-35 ramps in Round Rock beginning at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23. Contractors will close the right I-35 travel lane in each direction from RM 620 to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard), weather permitting. Work includes restriping the area so the existing I-35 entrance/exit ramps can be closed and the new ramps can be opened. The new northbound I-35 exit ramp will be open by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, and the existing exit 254 ramp will be closed. Also, the new northbound I-35 entrance ramp just south of Old Settlers Boulevard will be opened and the existing entrance ramp just north of US 79 will be closed. In the southbound direction, the new I-35 entrance ramp just north of US 79 will be opened and the existing one will be closed.

The County’s contractor Hunter Industries is scheduled to set up daytime closures of varying lanes on the northbound frontage road between Westinghouse Rd and SH 29. This will also include closing of the entrance and exit ramps within these limits periodically.  This work will take place from Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28, and again from Monday, August 31, to Friday, September 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This may cause some delays in daily travel along the northbound frontage road.

Williamson County’s contractor Hunter Industries is scheduled to permanently close the existing entrance ramp to Interstate Highway 35 just south of Inner Loop on Monday, August 10, 2015.  All northbound frontage road traffic will have to proceed north through the intersection at Inner Loop and enter IH 35 at the new entrance ramp south of RM 2243 (Leander Road). This closure provides a safe work zone for the contractors to remove the existing ramp and construct the new Northbound Exit Ramp 259B. An electronic message board will be set to provide advance notification to the public for this ramp closure.  No traffic delays are anticipated due to the planned ramp closure. This work will be completed in approximately four weeks weather permitting.
