This segment of roadway is a Williamson County project to widen the roadway from four to six lanes and will include new curb and gutter and a raised median. This segment will also include left and right-hand turn lanes, culverts, water-quality facilities, retaining walls and construction of sidewalk along the north side of RM 620 to fill in the current gaps.
||Segment 1: To be completed by TxDOT as funding becomes available.
Segment 2: The bid was awarded to Cox Commercial Construction on November 30, 2016. Construction started on January 13, 2017, and is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2018.
Cox Commercial Construction is working on the placement of roadway flexbase on the south side of RM 620. Contractor also is working on the placement of conduits and foundations for traffic signals.
Cox Commercial, is scheduled to set various temporary lane closures on RM 620 for the purpose of shifting eastbound and westbound lanes.
The eastbound lanes will be shifted to the south onto the new pavement. Temporary ramps will be constructed at the intersections and the hospital emergency room driveway to allow eastbound traffic to access the side streets and the hospital driveway on the north side of the roadway. After this shift the center turn lane will be removed and eastbound travelers will only be able to access the businesses along the north right of way at the signalized intersections. All work will begin at 8 p.m. and will be complete and all lanes back open to traffic by 6 a.m. the next morning. Access driveways and side streets will be maintained at all times. A police officer will be on the project during this work to manage traffic as needed.
After the eastbound lanes are shifted to the new pavement, the westbound lanes will be shifted to the south into the old center turn lane and the inside eastbound lane. The traffic shift will move the travel lanes to the south to provide a safe work zone along the north right of way. All work will begin at 8 p.m. and will be complete and all lanes back open to traffic by 6 a.m. the next morning. Access to driveways and side streets will be maintained at all times. A police officer will be on the project during this work to manage traffic as needed.
